Hey, My computer is starting to get slow i have done factory resets. And they help for maybe 1week then it's low again. Slow starts. Chrome lags a bit. But when im inside games it runs fine no crashes or lag. I can run ark on ultra settings with 60fps. It can often freeze programs like discord launchers chrome etc take long time to load and chrome stays on white screen for about 10seconds used to load instant. My computer is a little more than 3years old. Im not looking to buy a new computer but if i have to i will. Then my budget will be around 1500$-2000$. Btw my temputares are good. Recently good a new cooler for my cpu.
My specs.
2x Nvidia 970's
Intel core 4790k. (Not overclocked)
Gigabyte z97x-Gaming 3
Seagate Barracuda 2TB
HyperX Fury DDR3 1866MHz 16GB
Windows 10

Ok im back. I did a drive check and my drive passed i did the long one just to be sure. Now im not sure whats slowing down my computer i think my graphic cards are ok since when im inside games it runs fine. Could it be the cpu. I feel like a 4790k would work fine but it might be getting old. Then i gotta upgrade motherboard ram so it all fits.

linus.johansson020, think back to when this started to happen. Was is due to something you added/downloaded? This is like a crime scene. Need to put the pieces in place and see whom us the culprit. Uninstall the programs that are giving you the problems and test. That would be a good place to start. Then add them one by one and test and see what happens.

I'll try that. But it seems like for everyprogram i download it slows down. I've prob resetet it over 10times and after everytime it works kinda ok. But when i have downloaded steam disc skype chrome league games. U get it. Its slow

So if I understand correctly, downloading these applications is real slow? Is that your main problem?

Your PC is more than fine on specs. It could be software you install and run in background or at startup and it could be the hard drive. Since you ran tests on it I think it is fine too, it's just the fact it is an HDD. With that PC, buy an SSD as your boot drive and I'm sure it will be a game changer. Even if it isn't the HDD, getting an SSD is a win. Replacing an HDD with an SSD for boot drive is never a wrong decision.
