Starting last week, my GTX 970 would stop outputting a signal during gaming sessions. Rest of computer would still be running ie fans and LEDs on, and when I tested with headphones, I could still hear game audio, indicating that everything was still running. Thinking that it was just my video card going bad, I purchased a GTX 1060, as that's really all I could afford right now. Put in the new video card....its still doing it. Can play for about 5; minutes at most before it happens, and then have to shut down my computer to get my video output back. I'm stumped as to what the problem could be. I can still browse the internet and do other things on my computer as long as it doesn't push the graphics card at all. Hopefully, you guys have some ideas. Thanks in advance.

Update: Could a bad monitor cause this? My main monitor has been difficult since the issue started happening. Like having to fight with it to get a signal on it. Going to try with just my 1080p TV hooked up for a while, rather than my 1440p monitor.

Yeah, I was looking at the voltages in a hardware monitor and nothing looked 'wrong'(ie 5V on the 5V rail, 12ish on the 12V rail). I guess my next thing will be to replace the PSU and see what happens.

I stopped using my 1440p monitor and this time the computer did a full restart. Gonna test some more as i noticed some fans arent working, so make sure those are hooked up and then check again for overheating. If still happens then I'll assume psu is culprit.
