I received my replacement iPad Pro yesterday (since it's after midnight now) and it works as it should, but one thing's been bugging me. When I went to turn it on, it booted real quick and went to the multi language hello screen like it had been sleeping during transit. It's like the employees who engraved, boxed and tested it forgot to turn it off/check it was off before shipping. The manufacture date is less than two months ago so this is a new iPad. There were no signs that I remember seeing, could see to show the box had been tampered with or the iPad had been used before me, I had to use a scissors to break the seals to get in.

Assuming Apple haven't changed what happens when you first power on (so it goes straight to the hello screen, I'm not sure what happened here. Maybe I turned it on by accident while unboxing and somehow missed the Apple logo and it going to sleep again, because it's my understanding these are shipped turned off and at boot do the Apple logo and then language select which is what happened when I rebooted, but I asked about this elsewhere and some people said that they've also received iOS devices that were sleeping rather than off, some even said that depending on where it's going, Apple will ship them like that.

I let Apple know, but it's something that keeps bugging me. What could have happened here? Somebody made a mistake at the factory (It wasn't Apple's best packing job tbh)? Anyone have an iPad Pro made in the last three months who can tell me what it did at first boot?

Solution
What's the worst thing that could have occurred though?

It's USED. It WORKS, and the worst thing that you know of is that it may have been put into SLEEP instead of turned OFF?

Lots of other things to worry about.

I wonder how that happened though, probably some variation of an employee forgot to turn it off after testing. This probably shouldn't bother me as much as it is. I wonder if anything like this has happened to anyone round here
