Hello everyone on Tomshardware!
I was modifying my computer because I know that my core 2 duo was extremely outdated for gaming. So I thought to buy 8gb RAM and gtx 1060 and as I was using the old simmtronics g41 motherboard which was having lga775 socket I am confused which cpu to buy a Xeon E5462 or core 2 quad Q9660 any l am not worried about the prices because in India there is no much price difference in both CPUs.
So please tell me which CPU either Xeon e5462 or core 2 quad will perform better with gtx 1060 and 8gb ram and would I have to modify my motherboard?

Not entirely true, some people have reported running 1600 cpus in 1333 boards, the problem is that the mobo brand isnt one covered in any of the tests, so it would be a gamble.

There is even at least one report of a mobo that only officially runs 1333 that actually ran a 1600 cpu AT 1600.

Safest bet WOULD be a 5450, 60 or 70; 5450s are dirt cheap, the others cost upwards of £50 last time I looked.
