Does anyone know more details about the 2018 Skylake refresh? Is there going to be a refresh of lower core count cpu's or just add the one 22-core to the top? Details about new MBs? Would you only need a refreshed/updated MB if you wanted to run the new 22 core?

There's nothing confirmed, AFAIK.

Looking at prior "X" lineups though, there's never been a "refresh".

Typically, you have 4 CPUs or so on the HEDT platform.... and that's that, until then next releases.

So, give we've already got 7 chips in the "Skylake-X" line (excluding the two, pointless, EOL, "KabyLake-X" chips)..... i wouldn't anticipate much more than the addition of the 22core chip at the top of the stack.

We *might* see one other in the "mainstream" space (thinking 8-12 core, $500-$600 range).... but I wouldn't outright expect anything more than the addition of the 22core chip.

So it does look like a 22core Skylake-X chip is coming

Although, to quote the article:
The latest X299 processors will also be accompanied with new X299 refresh boards that push the TDP support up to 300W.

So, maybe there could be more....
