Why is my CPU suddenly overheating?

So today I decided to go ahead and clean my PC a bit. Not much dust and everything seemed fine. Then I started up my PC and I looked at the CPU temp. in my BIOS and it was 70 degrees celsius. I do realise I don't have thermal paste , but it didn't seem like a problem yesterday. Apparently cleaning your PC kills it. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Might have knocked the cooler causing it to lose contact with the CPU

91% isopropyl alcohol works well, i use a bunch of q tips moistened and slowly wipe off the material until clean with the last cleaned done with a coffee filter of lint free cloth.
