Im looking for a cpu, i wil be getting new mobo and ram as well.

Currently I have an 4790k and I have a titan x pascal, 3440x1440 100 pred x34 runing a custom loop from ekwb the aluminum style 240mm rad and 360mm rad.

looking to see what peoples options are there isn't a huge price difference between AMD and Intel in canada when the three items are put into the cart.

Thanks in advance

What is your system for? Is it for gaming? If so, then I would hold onto your 4790k for now as moving up to a Ryzen or Coffee Lake CPU will give very little performance increase, particularly at 1440p. I would stick with the 4790k till the Intel 10nm parts or the Ryzen 7nm parts are released. Those CPUs should offer a bump worth upgrading too.

If you are using the system for workstation task, then I could understand why you would want more threads than the 4790k. In that case, I would go with the 2700x. At 1440p gaming performance will be very similar to the 8700k but in workstation task, the additional 2 cores/4 threads will be much more beneficial.
