I have an HP Elite 8200(8300?) with the i5-3470
I've done some research but i wanted to verify the i7-3770 would be a drop in replacement processor... Same chipset, bridge,TDP, etc.
I can either place the i7-3770 in my SFF build for around $100 or get an MT build with all the same specs as my SFF and the i7-3770 for $200. Im considering the MT build as it has more upgrade potential with the PSU as the SFF PSU is proprietary and cant be upgraded easily.
My current SFF setup
i5-3470 (Replace with i7-3770 for $100)
Nvidia GT 1030
8gb DDR3
500gb HD
240w PSU
Or
MT desktop ($200 total, video card coming out of my current build and into new one)
i7-3770
Nvidia GT 1030
8GB ram
275w PSU
500gb HD
Is it worth the extra $100 to KNOW the processor will work while also having the potential to upgrade PSU in the future? Or should i spend the $100 on the i7, drop it in. then when im ready to upgrade do a full high dollar build. Thank you for your opinions and information
