Gigabyte Z170X with Intel i5 6400 / i5 7600K

States that my motherboard is compatible with both 7th and 6th generation Intel chips. I just purchased the 7600K to upgrade from the 6400, and I'm wondering if I'll need to Q-Flash or if it will work out of the box. Also, where exactly do I find the updated bios if I need it?

check the bios version on the motherboard

Might as well update it. Probably want to make sure you have the latest version for the spectre microcode security patches anyway.

Ok! So if I update it now I can make sure it's ready for the new CPU but continue using my old one? Will both work at the same time? Also, where do I find these updates?

Yes, updating to the latest BIOS will guarantee the 7600K will work, and it'll still work with the 6400.
