The GTX 1070 and Ti are upto 40% faster than the 1060, all be it the 1060 can game at 1080p absolutely fine as said above most likely wont change for the farseeable future. As in buying an upgrade like 1070 ti here in the UK you can pick up a new palit 1080 for the asking price of a 1070 ti which is a bit odd but a good deal never the less. We also have a supposed new generation of nvidia cards on the horizon in a few months so I would consider waiting it out till september and see what 10 series cards get reduced to peanuts and what that series brings to the table in price to performance. I would say dont play the waiting game on hardware. But since GPU's tend to stagnate for a couple of years I would say wait before you jump ship.
Are you playing at above 1080P resolution, or, do you have a 1080P monitor with higher than 60 Hz refresh? If so get the 1070/1070Ti....

The GTX1060 (6 GB) is a very competent 1080P card...in all games. (I doubt that will change much over the next 12-18 months, frankly)
