Here is what happened. Last night I upgraded my win7 to win10 and downloaded the latest windows updates, as expected. This morning, however, i noticed that the updates were not installed so i restarted the pc, again as expected. Once it shut down, however, it wont start. It powers up everything powers up but the monitor wont show anything at all. I remember my pc having trouble installing a video driver last night but my drivers were very recent. I dont think its my video card because i let my pc alone for a bit and tried a blind log in to my pc. Nothing, no sound or something indicating something working. I cleaned it properly, but remember that my pc up until this morning was working fine and today was working only for half an hour or something. Whats going on?!

My pc specs:
Cpu: AMD FX 8300
GPU: GTX 750
PSU: 450 W
RAM: 12 GB HYPERX
MB: ASROCK 970 FATAL1TY PERFORMANCE

Again note that this build was working fine for months

Since it was working until that restart that was done properly, could it really cause damage like that? Also there is no way of testing the psu as i have no spare parts atm. Any advice regarding that is much appreciated

Well, PSUs and most other components mostly die during shutdown or start.
You can check PSU by disconnecting it from MB and other components and connecting Green and a Black wire in 24 pin connector. If it starts then you could check if it has proper voltages in 24pin and other outputs. https://allpinouts.org/pinouts/connectors/power_supply/atx-motherboard-power-24-pin-compaq-hp/

Specially Purple wire from 24pin. That keeps MB powered all the time and enables MB and PSU start.

I found a probable cause. I use a 2x2 CPU cable instead of a 4x2 that MB requires. What i dont understand is why after all this time and not sooner? Also how can i find out if my CPU is busted?
