I just recently bought a evo 970 SSD M.2 and I want to transfer my windows 10 operating system from my HDD to the new SSD. My SSD is installed but not showing in my bios and I believe I have it correctly set up in my bios. I have been doing some research and someone suggested that I back up my files unplug my HDD and install a new windows on my new SDD but I have misplaced my flash drive that has my windows installation on it. How would I go about doing? Would making a recovery of my current OS on another flash drive then trying to use that for a new installation work?

Be sure to make the USB stick (above) and save it. It comes in very handy when you have issues.

Me, I would:
-Backup the HDD to an external device.
-Clone the HDD to the 970
-Power off and remove the HDD
-Power back up and make sure the system boots properly and that everything is there. Once verified, and your backup is safe, feel free to reuse the HDD. If you skipped the backup. Set the HDD aside for a month to make sure you really don't need anything on it.
