Hello,
I didn't know where to put this, so I put it here.
A very bad thing has happened to me few days ago. My room is situated just below the roof in my house and the computer stands below the roof window. I left the window opened by accident and there was a big storm. When I came back, I found water on the floor (had to mop it for 20 minutes). But the worst thing is that the computer doesn't start at all. I have Corsair Obsidian 750D case and I found water residue near the PSU (bottom side) and a few water drops on the top-side fans (Corsair H115i).
I took the PSU out and let it rest for 3 days. Now I tried the paperclip test and the PSU isn't working.
The weirdest think, though, is that the other components seemed totally dry and intact (dust on the top side of the GPU and so on). So I am quite surprised how the water got in exactly.
If it's "just" the PSU (Seasonic Prime 750W), I will live with it and buy a new one. But it's the GPU that I'm worried about the most. It's Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti. I am worried that it might have got damaged as well, either by water or the PSU.
My question is, what steps should I do to troubleshoot it? I just did the paperclip test. I think I did it right and the PSU didn't start. What next?
Would there be a possibility to use the warranty with explanation that it just "stopped working"?
Thanks for any tips
Tomas
P.S. I don't need to hear that I am stupid and shouldn't put my expensive computer below a window. I know that now. Thanks
