Hi, I have recently purchased a dell LATITUDE e6430 i5 3340m 2.7 ghz + intel hd 4000(i have a dedicated card but for some reason the integrated is better) + 8gb ram for around 300 euros (second hand).
After a few tests, i noticed that the temps are pretty high, but i'm not sure if I should worry or not. Could you help me out here, i'm a bit desperate I haven't got enough money to get a new laptop/pc (the warranty doesn't include functional products).
I already cleaned out the dust. I don't know if re-applying thermal paste will make much difference, but I will consider doing so if there is no other solution.
Here are the temps :
idle/simple tasks 50-60 c
gaming :-medium demanding games 75-80 degree
-fortnite or other high demanding games : 80-84c
When i play fortnite, the cpu stays at 84 c
Will my cpu throttle/underclock??
Any help will be much appreciated,

Solution
Yes you are safe if you don't exceed 85 and your laptop will last. I think that spending $20 to expand its life span with a cooling pad is worth it though.

Cpu speed is jumping vetween 2,3 and 2,7 ghz is this the result of throllting and is there a way to stop it? (Thermal paste/cooling pad)

These fluctuations may not necessarily be because of overheating. Keep the device in a cool environment and possibly add a cooling pad, it will help. Just try to see if jumps in temperature are linked to decrease in performance.
