Buying a new computer, will it run games smoothly?

I am buying a new computer next week and I have my eye on a custom build that is down at a local shop of mine. The guy theres says it has
* 8 GB of ram
* 1 GB video card
* AMD Phenom X4 2.20GHz CPU
* 500gb hard drive
And the computer is $275...
I was wondering if this would run most games smoothly even on low-medium settings and was wondering if the price was okay?
Thanks!

Would need upgrades though, but RAM is OK and HDD. But even a core2quad q6600 will beat it.
Give me a while to collect parts and I'll show you a better mid range gaming PC for around 275-300$

Barely made it to the safe point: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nDx8QZ
and the mobo is https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157499&cm_re=lga775_motherboard-_-13-157-499-_-Product
If you can get a hold on these parts at you're local store, it would save you the shipping and time and you may get cheaper parts! :p also prebuilt OEM PCs tend to be cheaper than to self build. If not, a refurbished or second-hand would do you well! :d overall should be 250$
Still would need to set games to low-mid if you wanna play.

Getting that same PC at lower price excluding half the components isn't the problem. IT'S STILL NOT GOING TO BE GAME-ABLE :/

That pc is worth maybe $100 depending on the gpu. It's 10 years old and you don't want it for games. 1st-2nd gen i5 pc is about $125. Just drop in a 1050 and be done.

That pcpartpicker list is worth about $50 as that's about how much you'd find the same spec pc for.

I wasn't telling him to get it, just that it was a terrible deal. You posted an equally terrible deal.

That's awful. Don't buy that.

Based on his budget, it was hard collecting best parts
:/

You listed a Q8200 for $80+ when you could have gotten a Q6600 for $10.

Yes but it needs a video card to be able to play games well.

Much better priced and waaay better performance, nice pick, but does'nt say how much HDD (must have 500 atleast), anyway to use it for gaming pair it with this and you're ready to go gaming at good fps (med-high) :D
Is a total 220$ good build... :p
