To be honest, both aren't good! The pentium mobile processors are waaay to old, and celerons are good but not good enough for heavy tasks. My advice is to get an i3 or better CPU laptop (Assuming u're on a low budget).
Also, if you still want to buy one of those, get a Celeron. It's better than a pentium.
 
Pentium and celeron can both be modern but more info needs to be given. Those are processor series names and not the exact model. It's like saying you have a ford but not giving the car name. Without knowing the exact model, celeron can be better than pentium and pentium can be better than celeron.

Agreed, best if he posts the laptop models he's willing to buy....
But even if, Pentium Ms are only x32 mono/dual core, so celerons are hard to beat in this case :/.
 
I doubt they are looking at a 10-15 year old laptop. It doesn't make sense to just single out a single series (ignoring hundreds of other models that are infinitely more likely to be looked at) and say celeron is better or hard to beat "even if." It's most likely a more modern U, Y or N.
