Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz Running at 1000MHz

I got a new MSI X370 Gaming Pro along with my 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance C16 3000MHz. When I go into my task manager, it tells me that my ram speed is running at 1063MHz (1/3 the speed of actual runspeed). I've tried "overclocking" in the msi BIOS, but it always tells me that it was unsuccessful. I like GigaByte's BIOS more right now ;(

Ok, you'll need to update your bios. There has been updates improving memory compatibility.

Fyi, Ryzen motherboards have a higher success rate at higher frequencies using Samsung B-die chips. Your memory is using Hynix chips. Not to say thats bad, updating your bios is your best shot.

There is a 2933MHz profile and a 3200MHz profile, but when I select them the overclock fails.

the XMP profile or something like that.. make sure it is running at the suggested voltage..

ALSO you could just try one stick at a time as well.. and make sure you put them in the correct slots.. you can also check CPU-Z to see what the profile is showing.. and posting an image here would help I think too..

I have one board that would only go up to 2600 mhz or something like that with the X370 chipset untill they had a BIOS update and then I moved to I think 2933 and its working great.. (haven't tried since the BIOS update any more then that.. but pre the update it did not boot.. or would crash. (that was with 3200Mhz ram.

I Think I see your issue.. you SHOULD have DUAL channel memory with 2 sticks of ram.. you have them in the WRONG slots.. check your manual .. like a lot of boards you have to have them in the 2 and 4 slots.. I am guessing you have it in the 1 and 2 slots for example.

Cpu z only shows single data rate, thats normal, wont see ddr. Your memory is running at 2129 ddr. Check your bios for double data rate.

Do you have 2x 8gb or 1x 16gb? Cpuz is showing single channel, 1x 16gb.

What does SPD tab in cpuid say?

that is incorrect.. my CPU-Z shows I am running at DUAL channel at 1599.6MHz (so 3200MHz when you double it) according to his image of the CPU-Z he is running around 2000MHz so at least better then 1000MHz he was thinking.. but still slower then it should be.. but thats cause he has the ram in the wrong slots.. I would make sure they are in #2 and #4 slots. NOT next to one another.. unless that board is wierd.

This image is what Lordholmz shared. Hows that anything to do with you and your " that is incorrect.. my CPU-Z shows I am running at DUAL channel at 1599.6MHz" statement?

Need to get facts straight which memory Lordholmz has. Lordholmz thought was 2x 8gb. Im seeing 1x16gb, or as you say, memory in the wrong slots which is quite possible. Thats why i asked what does SPD tab say. If not sure what memory is in fact in the system, 3000Mhz ram might be an accidental misunderstanding.

I have updated the slots and now it is dual channel but still 1063MMHz (2133MHz*). I've tried rebooting with A XMP but nothing with the ram frequency changes, when I try to do it withough A XMP my PC reboots continuously until i reset the CMOS.

Also it was clocked at 3000MHz on my old GigaByte Motherboard

it seems like the XMP 2998 table is what I am trying to achieve for that slot, I don't know how to apply it to the actual RAM stick though.

Nice that you are now on dual channel :) I would update BIOS and then also try going up to like 2400MHz

and I was referring to the top right it shows Channels # Single on where when you are dual channel it shows Dual.. and that was what I was referring to as incorrect statement thing.

OH make sure you put your ram voltage at the 1.35 and go from there.. as you try faster then the just over 2000Mhz
