I have seen some eBay listing and they seem to be going around $170. I saw one listing that is selling an r9 290 for 160 buy now. is that a good price for a 290 or there are cheaper and better cards out there. and also there is a reference card for 100. if I do get a 290 should spend the extra 60 dollars for an aftermarket card or just save 60 and get a reference I just want to upgrade my GTX 670 and looking into r9 290s and open to any other suggestions also my budget is $180 max

A used GTX 1060 is about in the same price range and would be a better buy. Keep in mind that used video cards can be a gamble to buy if can't see them run in person.
