Building a desktop

Hello - I have decided to build a desktop which I have never done before. So I am looking for advise and tips on how do I go about building the machine fit for my needs.
I would be primarily using the machine for moderate CAD work and wouldn't involve heavy graphics etc. But I would also be playing occasional games like Elder's Scroll etc . I am sort of looking at <£600 to spend.
I have decided that Intel Core i5 (6th generation) will be sufficient for my needs so my desktop will be based around this CPU.
Other components like mATX motherboard, 8GB DDR3 etc and I am also planning to buy a graphics card (which one?). My knowledge of computer hardware is sort of basic but not atrocious but I get confused in selecting PSU or type of motherboard.
Can you give me some tips or advise, Do's, Don'ts or things like which type of components would best suit my project.

Thanks
