GPU Not Working

First off, my PCIe x16 slot is a 1.0.

I bought a new graphics card that is a GT730 2GB that is 2.0 and x8.

From what I've read everything is backwards compatible, so I'm assuming none of that means anything.

I've installed it, and set my bios, and it will not work. If installed, I my integrated graphics card wont work, which makes me think bios is correct. While using the graphics card the computer wont go through is't booting process. I know this because if I leave it on for an extended period of time, I can just press my power button, and it will shut off. I don't really know what it's doing because I get no screen.

Is the graphics card trash or am I doing something wrong?

PCIe is backwards compatible, yes...... but BIOS support can impact the ability to use a GPU.

In addition, a GT730 is a ~50W TDP part. Depending on the board implementation, you *may* be limited to 25W via the PCIe slot.
Which board do you have, specifically?

PCIe 1.0 spec is 15 years old, replaced by 2.0 around 10-11 years ago.
So, if you truly have a Gen1 PCIe slot..... you're running early-mid 00's hardware, with a GPU from 2014. On that alone, I wouldn't simply expect it to 'work'.

The specs for this graphics card requires 23w... mannnn, I hope that's not the problem.
