ASUS X99-A 3.1 Motherboard won't stop overclocking my CPU to 3.6GHz

Hi all,
My ASUS X99-A 3.1 Motherboard won't stop overclocking my Intel i7 5820K 6 core 3.3GHz CPU to 3.6GHz no matter what I try. My set-up is not meant for overclocking and has crashed due to the strain, so naturally I want to disable it. I've never set it to 3.6GHz at any point and I've tried every obvious fix (as well as in the advanced section of the UEFI BIOS.) I've googled my issue with many different phrasings and so far it seems like I'm the first with this issue. Am I missing something? Is there a more complex fix? Thanks!

3.6Ghz is the rated turbo speed for 5820k, I have one myself :) The 3.3Ghz is the baseclock speed for all-core load. Under lighter loads, 1 or 2 cores, the CPU will boost to 3.6Ghz by design. However, it's possible the default UEFI setting is boosting all cores to 3.6Ghz. It's very unlikely this would cause your issue, as these CPUs typically can run in 4.3 to 4.6Ghz range when OCing on purpose. 3.6Ghz even all-core is to low to cause your issue, unless thermals are at fault. What is your actual problem?
