Motherboard LED does not turn on?

Yesterday I finished building my PC, and turned it on and installed all the different drivers and programs I wanted. Last night I shut it off using the PSU power switch on the back (the case wires are busted because I got the case used) and moved the PC from the room I had been building it in (a room with a hardwood floor) to my room (carpeted) that was supposed to be its permanent home.

Today when I went to turn it on I couldn't get it to boot up. I then realized that nothing in the PC seemed to be getting power, there was not even the little green LED lighting up on the motherboard that usually stays on. I tested the PSU by sticking a paperclip in the green and black cord sockets and then plugging it in, and it does turn on and start outputting power. I have tried unplugging everything and replugging everything back in. I have removed everything but the PSU connected to the motherboard which is only has the CPU and the RAM attached to it. I have gone through all 21 of the steps in this sticky post.

Any ideas of what is going on?? I have no idea what is even left to try and I would really like to use my first home-built PC for more than one day :( Any suggestions and help are incredibly appreciated! Thanks!

EDIT: The mobo in question is a Gigabyte H310M A. The PSU is a EVGA 500w Bronze. The CPU is an Intel i5 8400.

Like unscrew it from the case? I have not. I just meant the wires that usually run from the power switch, PWR LED, and to the different stuff like that on the case are all frayed and unconnected, so I just unplugged them altogether. They aren't even plugged into the board, but I didn't think those cords had an effect on the board's LED coming on when it has power. Will messing with them somehow help?

I am not thinking about the wires, just that you have new parts in an old case, and it's not booting. If you breadboard the new parts outside the case and they work, the problem must be with the old case.

Okay I will try it. My motherboard and other parts have no interaction with the case whatsoever besides the mobo being screwed into it. I'll post back when I see what the result is.

Bread boarding it unfortunately did not solve the problem. However, the problem has now been solved although I'm not sure how. It just randomly started working. I guess I would tell everyone to just make sure all the wires are connected and everything is fitting right.
