Hey guys I just got my new pc up and running, the specs are
GPU:980 TI
CPU: E5 2687W
RAM: 16gb
850 watt corsair.

So I'm not getting the performance I want on csgo with my 980 TI. I tried to overclock my 8 core xeon with bclk
But when ever I go above 103.00 it doesn't post. Any thing I should know about overclocking this way besides that it overclocks your whole system.

Was also wondering if that xeon is a bottleneck to my 980 ti and if you guys think I should get a 4930k or 4960x?

Upping the BCLK is dangerous, you can fry the motherboard. In older generations, Intel would allow BCLK overclocking. But at some point they tied up the BCLK to a general clock for all components. That includes PCIe, whose clock should be set to 100 MHz. When you raise the BCLK, you are speeding all the components. Some tolerate this better than others, and going as low as 103 or 104 MHz can fry the motherboard. So i would be careful with that.
The Xeons on X58 were the last ones that could be overclocked by raising the multiplier. For x79 they are basically not OCable. So if you need more speed, you would be better served with enthusiast CPUs like the ones you indicate than with xeons. Now, depending on the price of the new CPU, it might even make more sense to buy something new and modern...
