No signal caused by faulty case?

Hi everyone. I recently purchased a CiT Vantage Gaming Case (4 fans) for my dad to replace an older case he was using as it was small and my old 560ti would heat the room literally in such a small case(I know the 560 is old but he plays older games and it was free to him so he is happy)
I moved the components into the new case and now it will boot with cpu fans and GPU fans etc BUT I get the dreaded "no signal" with both DVI and HDMI and keyboard test using numlock/caps showed no power getting to them. I checked all the power connections etc even going as far as to disconnect all the USB headers/fans/sound etc bar the front panel connections but to no avail but also realized that holding down the power on button for any length of time does not cause a shut down and only if I switch it off at the PSU.
I swapped the parts back into the old case and it works perfectly.
There is no need to list components as they all work fine but how can the case turn the computer "on" yet act like the motherboard is dead ?
