I have a AMD FX-4300 3.80GHz Quad Core and wanted to know what the best gaming cpu is today that would fit my mother board

Good upgrades for that mobo would be: FX 8350, 8370, 9370, 9590. Note though that the last two may not be compatible depending on the model of your motherboard. It would be cheaper and better though to just upgrade from the old AM3+ socket to either ryzen or coffee lake.

The FX-9xxx series is NOT a good upgrade option, even if compatible with the motherboard. They use a lot of power, generate a lot of heat, and are notoriously unstable. There are 100s of threads of owners with these CPUs and all of their troubles.
Just keep in mind that the AM3+ based systems are now obsolete. They are still functional and perform well for many tasks, but the tech has moved on from this platform.
