Replacing a hdd

Hi guys, I'm looking to replace a noisy HDD, and my windows is currently installed on my ssd, only problem is I don't know if I can switch out my current HDD for a new one because my pc says there is 947mb of "system files that help windows run properly" on the HDD.
Does this mean I can't just switch out my HDD for a new one without messing up my windows?
Thanks

Basic test:
Power off.
Disconnect the ailing HDD.
Power up.

Does it boot up properly?

I actually tried that a while back , and it ended up messing up my pc and I had to reinstall windows, only this time my version of Windows isn't compressed like it was last time (from manufacturers), but still I'm reluctant to try it if something goes wrong. Is there any other way to determine if the HDD is needed?
Thank you for your reply

1. What OS is this, and where did it come from?

2. Please post a screencap of your Disk Management window.
