Mouse doesn't work on mouse pad

Has mouse worked before on this pad? If this first time using pad, mouse sensor is not agreeing with it. Could try calibrate if mouse software has options for calibration.
If mouse has worked before on this mouse pad, look at sensor for any scratches. There's no other reason why it shouldn't be working unless faulty or having trouble tracking certain mouse pad materials.
