MSI B350M won't boot

Hello,

Any advise would be welcome as I am struggling to boot in my new PC.

Specs:
MSI B350M PRO-VDH
AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (needs BIOS update so using a A8-9600 on loan)
RAM: Lenovo 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz ECC RDIMM WorkStation Memory
550W PSU
nVidia GTX 970

Everything powers on inside on all components but the VGA and BOOT debug LEDs stay on and I can't boot up into anything. I don't even get into the BIOS, just a black screen.

I have tried multiple RAM sticks, I have tried an old SSD and nVidia 650 from my old rig which work fine.

I have tried booting with no SSD and Graphics card connected, still same issue.

I have tried resetting the CMOS.

Any more ideas?

Thanks,
Paul

Your A8 supports onboards graphics. What happens if you try to connect display to motherboard video output? If you get video output, explore bios and set graphics to pcie and see then if it boots with the gpu.
Also, ram can be picky. You can see the specific models for each processor in their website. Make sure you are installing the ram in the correct slot. Your manual should tell where to install the ram depending in the number of modules.

Thanks for your answers.

I have tried with one and two RAM sticks, both in the correct slots according to the manual.
Yes I have tried the on board video output and still nothing. I don't think the mobo is booting at all as the debug lights are on.

I might try and order some different RAM as a next step as the RAM I am using was from a Lenovo Desktop.

The Ryzen 7 does not provide onboard video. The motherboard may have video outputs but that is for the APU not CPU.

I have updated with the full details of the ram - Lenovo 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz ECC RDIMM WorkStation Memory
On the AMD website it just says it supports up to 2400MHz of RAM for the A8

Tbh the RAM is a bit funky so I will try and order something different and try that.
