Hey so before DirectTV was installed we had mediacom cable and internet and the internet was great 200 down around 40 up, then after directTV was installed i have around the same up for some reason maybe 10~ lower but my down can go anywhere from 2 to 200 depending on the day and it usually sits at 30-40 down. More importantly ever since it was installed I've consistently had 5-12% packet loss which is driving me crazy considering I game and watch streams. Anyways to make a long story short we had a mediacom guy come over and he said the only way to fix it is to just uninstall the DirectTV cables and use the internet only since as i quite obviously suspected DirectTV is severally interfering with the internet here. However i was wondering is there any way to fix this without such drastic measures? As for specs I'm using a PC that's connected to a mediacom modem for internet.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice that's given, if this issue can even be fixed.

You can not use directtv on the same coax cables as you get your internet on...for most cable systems. You need to find a way to split the cables. It depends for example how many directtv boxes you have. What you really want to do is run a cable from your modem to the coax coming in from the street with nothing else connected to that coax. It will I guess depend on how the cable actually run in your house.
