Lost space in HDD after merging two volumes

I actually first split my drives into 2 partitions (Partition 1 - 874 GB Partition 2 - 40 GB) using Acronis Disk Director but it took a lot of time , even after more than 12 hrs (left overnight , plugged in ) there wasn't any progress (while Acronis was trying to merge volumes),
I had to access my laptop back again so I left it off in battery mode then and let it get discharged. When I opened the laptop the initial loading screen showed disk error and it started scanning and repairing it.I reached the Automatic Repair Screen, but it didn't work , and so I clicked the option which said "start Windows 10" . The disk looked absolutely fine with 2 partitions but I merged those 2 partitions again since I thought that disk error will go away. While merging , I got disk errors again and I lost 40 GB (This is the space of Partition 2) of my space. And the thing is that 40 GB isn't even unallocated, it is like hidden.
I have tried running chkdsk command to fix errors but still no luck.
Please help.

*Ignore the space used up by Recovery Drive in the image*
Disk Management shows only 874 GB at top and 914 GB below. And in "My Computer/This PC" it shows only 873 GB usable space which should actually be 914 GB like before.
*The D drive was orginally 914 GB which I split into 874 GB and 40 GB , giving D drive 873 GB and E drive 40 GB , while merging it back again I lost 40 GB and for some reason E drive still remains and E drive is now using 26 MB space.

Merge operations are risky. You should never do merge without making backup first.
And leaving merge operation in progress while removing power is the worst thing you can do.

Wipe the disk and restore from backup.
If there is no backup, then copy everything you can from D: to some safe location and
wipe the disk and restore from backup.
