Hello, recently I upgraded my graphics card from a GTX 970 to a MSi AERO GTX 1080. My motherboard is an MSI Z97 G45 Gaming, and my power supply is a 600 Watt - Corsair CX600 V2 - 80 PLUS Bronze. I plugged the card into the first slot of the motherboard pcie with a 6+2 cable. The card’s LED boots on which I assume means that is has power. My keyboard RGB turns on as well. The only problem is that I get a black screen on my monitor. I’ve tried both the onboard graphics and the new GPU but no luck. I am using an HDMI to VGA adapter for my monitor. If anyone could offer some insight I’d really appreciate it.

This might not be an GPU issue but I would try this because reading some threads about computers turning off and on again so would try and take your ram out and put them back in again and make sure that there seated correctly!

Do you understand that older VGA required a driver disk to tell the GPU what the monitor's specs were...but that with HDMI such configuration is automatic...and that using an adapter absolutely guarantees your video card cannot tell what kind of monitor you have? You either need a new monitor, or else the driver disk for that monitor.
