Hi guys,

Looking to upgrade a z220 CMT workstation (i3 3220) for some gaming use - nothing too ridiculous though.

Does anyone know of a decent GPU that would run off the stock PSU? Not looking to spend that much as I already have a decent PC. Would a GTX 960 4GB run ok in this?

Thanks

Technically speaking the GTX 960 4GB requires, 2 things; a PCIE (6pin) connectors, and 400W, which both I truly believe is lacking on a Z220 HP workstation. your possible 400W from HP is more like a 320W to be honest, if it is an ATX format PSU, then get a 500W/550W modern psu and you should be fine then.

what is your budget for another card ? because 400W your looking at a 1050ti maybe.

It's an HP machine but I don't actually have the system yet. Considering buying it as it is very cheap, if this upgrade will be fairly easy. It has an i3 3220 3.3GHZ and 2GB DDR3 RAM. If I was to buy it, I would be upgrading the memory straight away.

Thanks. Might look at the CPU eventually, but I am more interested in upgrading the GPU in the first instance, as I can live with an i3 at 3.3ghz.

Looks like this won't be possible then, as the Z220 has a proprietary PSU from looking at it, which would make it very difficult to update and probably not worth the effort. Thanks for your help though!
