Upgrading Ram without replacing the old ones

so i have at the moment 8 GB of Ram (2x4) >>corsair vengeance<<, so i was wondering can i buy 2 more and have in total 16 GB (4x4) of the same product. If that is possible is there any problems or anything i should be informed of before doing so ? like software issues or tips
and i know i will have to order all 4 in the 2 different slot types in my case one is black and the other green .

See your mobo's manual and RAM support list for 4 slot vs 2 slot issues / frequency speeds. There might be differences.

adding second pair should be quite easy if mobo supports it. Search for board specyfic bugs and errors, if anything will stand in your way, it will be quite a lot of posts.
also make sure you can return as ram upgrades tend to fail in 1/20 just because it can

the board supports it but will it be a problem if i have 4 of the same or even (2x4 )and (2x8) so in total 24 GB ??
