This will be a better build for gaming than x299. I also threw in one of the best monitors in the world.

Yeah, that setup will work, but it is really overkill and I would not advise building this machine. You can build a much cheaper rig that will give you the same, if not better performance in AAA games.

Have you purchased the parts? If not, what is your budget and where is your location. We can provide you with a build list that will maximize performance for your budget.

The 7820x is a workstation CPU, not a gaming CPU. The 8700k is the best gaming CPU on the market. The 2700x is another really good CPU. No game in the world requires 32gb of RAM. 16gb is more than adequate. The excess RAM will do nothing to improve your computer's performance as it will just sit there idle. The 1080ti is a great GPU, make sure you have a monitor to push it. 4 Tb NVMe drives is a lot of really fast storage. How many games do you have? You may want to consider one drive for now. The Corsair RM850x is a great PSU, but you don't need that much wattage for a gaming rig. If you go with a 8700k/2700x and a 1080ti, then a 650 watt PSU will be more than enough.

The X299's really aren't great for gaming etc, cost more than they are worth.

Here is a nice solid setup.

It will work, however x299/i9 cpu are more for workstation rather than a gaming station.

I think you will get a better gaming experience using i7 8700k ( with overclocking ) and a good z370 mobo, (asrock z370 extreme 4, Asus z370 rog hero or gigabyte gaming 5, msi gaming m5 or evga z370 get). And if budget allows, a nice set of ddr4 3600 ram. The rest of your part selection is fine.

Most game tends to be core frequency bounded, means higher the frequency, higher the fps.

Here is the Intel equivalent. At 1440p, the systems will have the same fps.
