Harddrive clicking then buzzing and repeat

so i have an older 500gb western digital harddrive that im trying to get photos from and all it does is clicks and buzzing, i doesn't show up anywhere on the system so i can't get any data from it
anyone know what i could do?, is there anything in the harddrive i could reset or replace?

What you might want to do is if it's an E-HDD is to open it and take it out and try to hook it up into your system or hook it up through an HDD dock and see if it's able to connect. If it does connect, I recommend using Crystal Disk Info to check the drive status. It could just be bad sectors.

I've had a few HDD with bad sectors that made noise and took forever to do anything. It is recommended to get a replacement HDD if you see a bad sector HDD.

If it's not an E-HDD then I would recommend unplugging it and reseating the connectors to it. It might bring it back for a moment and probably disconnect once the computer is turned off.
