Hey, i'm going to upgrade my CPU and I have a question. My setup is mainly for gaming. Maybe some video editing for school, and other adobe stuff. So the question is should I get a ryzen 5 2600x? Or something else like a 7 1700? Or anything for that matter. I'm on a budget so I won't go over 300 EUR. I currently have a Ryzen 5 1400

What is your current setup? If you already have a compatible motherboard for this CPU, then get 2600X by all means. Just update the BIOS to the latest version beforehand.

Chances are, though, that this isn't the case, and that you have an older rig.

The cheapest new 2600X costs 213 EUR in Germany, so your budget is quite limited. Especially if you also need the mobo and RAM. So, plan accordingly :)

Thank you, i do have a motherboard that is compatible with a ryzen 1400. I don't know the name fully, but it is the MSI 350b vdh pro or something like that.

2600X would be my recommendation, since you aren't too involved with workstation uses, the six core processor is enough, the Ryzen 7 1700 would be a bit overkill. Just update your BIOS to the latest version, and you can slap on that Ryzen 5 2600X on your motherboard.
