Would this be dual channel

So Im running 8 gig stick in single channel,if I add another 4 gig stick would it be considered dual channel or do I have to get another 8 gig for it to be dual channel?
(Same RAM model though)

If they work together at all, at most you would have 4 + 4GB in dual channel and 4GB in single. Depends on other factors like BIOS and processor.

For dual channel to work, both sticks must be the same capacity at the very least, but preferably bought as a matched pair so they match in every respect.

I running 2*2*2*2 gb ddr2 all different models at 800mhz in dual channel in my old machine so I thought you could do it with different capacity too

Thanks to everyone for helping!
One last question would it be ok if I use ram of different brand same speed?
Currently I have crucial (without heatsinks) but RAM price have seem to decease a bit here and now I can get the one with heatsinks.
