Front Panel Connector Broken, USB 3.0 Ports still Working

My cable that runs from the front panel of my case to my motherboard was always coming loose. Finally, the last time I went to reconnect it I accidentally broke off the pin titled (IntA_P1_D+) on my motherboard. I understand that the function of the pin is "USB 3 ICC Port1 D+ (USB 2 Signal D+)" but what does that mean? My USB 3.0 device seems to be working fine, but my USB 2.0 stick only works on one of the ports now. I am guessing from this that only USB 2.0 function is broken but I don't want to use the port if it could potentially corrupt my USB 3.0 drive. Any help?

I think you are correct in guessing that the USB 2.0 device compatibility no longer works. It should just mean that any USB 2.0 devices connected to that port will no longer work, since that compatibility is simply missing. I don't see any reason why this would harm your USB 3.0 drive in any way.
