Hello everyone, I have a question about the compatibility of the memories I have with the AM4 and Rysen motherboards.
I have a Trident Z F4-3000C15D-16GTZB G-Skill memory kit and i would to know which chipset or MB would support this memory kit with a Ryzen 5 2600.

Solution

You could use it and it might work just fine or it might work at lower than rated speeds.
I will give you an example of the system in my signature below.
The RAM (CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB 3200MHz) is optimized for Intel platform and it runs faster that rated speed on
several Intel motherboards (200, 300 & X299 series).
On the Ryzen motherboard below, and a couple more I tested, it does not run higher than 3000MHz (stable) and I had to manually configured...

It is better to select a motherboard then pick compatible RAM from the manufacturer QVL.
The Trident Z F4-3000C15D-16GTZB memory kit is optimized for the Intel platform. But the Trident Z F4-3000C15D-16GTZ runs well on Ryzen motherboards (e.g.Gigabyte GA-AB350-GAMING 3).

Who gave me these memories, using a Ryzen 1700 and an MSI X370, told me that I could t use them as main memory, not even boot, just as secondary memory that managed to configure them. So he used it with an i3 before giving it to me. Is this type of incompatibility common?

If I manually make it run at 3200MHz the system boots fine but some games and apps freeze, hang or crash.
I hope that helps answer your question.
