So i got a new cpu today, i replaced my amd fx 4300 to a amd fx 8350 4.0 ghz which is the one im speaking about. I installed my cpu its all good but then when i turn on my pc it is like i have the same old cpu when i run a game i tried my graphics high but nope lags alot i went into system information and it appears that i have the fx 8350 just that my pc doesnt work like i have one please help me guys.
My specs: My cpu is an AMD fx 8350
video card is an amd r7 240 2gb ddr3
8 gb ram

I also noticed that in Passmark.com I looked up my old cpu the fx 4300 and comnpared it to the new one i got which is the fx 8350 and noticed that there is a really huge difference so it means my games shopuld run way better now not the way my old cpu used to run the game please help me guys ive been waiting so long for my cpu and it doesnt help in gaming at all i really wanna use my cpu to the potential of playing in high or medium atleast but not low. Thanks i appreciate it guys.

Upgrading your graphics card will help. How much will depend on which gpu you get and what games you play. If you're up to it, try researching overclocking and try overclocking your cpu/gpu. That will help a bit

It is working to it's full potential. Your CPU is bad, your GPU is bad. SO therefore, you have bad game performance. More cores will do nothing for games that only use up to 4 cores anyway.

I get that my video card sucks but my cpu is suppes to be good

You obviously do not understand how these components impact performance. Do some research on your own, or maybe someone else here would be willing to explain it to you. Basically, CPUs don't have a lot of impact on performance opposed to GPUs, for the most part.

Neither your gpu or cpu is particularly good. The fx 8350 is decent, and definitely an upgrade from the fx 4300, however, your gpu is bottle necking your cpu. Basically, it (the gpu) is weak enough that you don't see much improvement in performance in fortnite. The gpu is holding your fx 8350 back. Now if you played a game that was more cpu dependent, you'd see more improvement. But for you a better graphics card would help more for fortnite.

well thank you you were actually helpful so you are saying that there is actually no problem? i just need an upgrade on my graphics card? Also my gpu is bringing the performance of my cpu down which is making it like if i had the same cpu

Wait what do you mean by hold back?
I couldve bought a better cpu i just thought this would do enough for medium in my fame but i guess not anyway will this graphic card do https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-04G-P4-6255-KR/dp/B01M5BQRIO?
Also quick question can a pci express 3.0 fit a 2.0 and dddr5 fit a ddr3?

So what you have discovered is that your CPU is not the limiting factor for games.

It has improved performance over your old chip in CPU specific tasks, however I suspect that your games are GPU throttled.

Unless you have a decent budget and can afford to upgrade everything. You should find out where your bottleneck is and focus on that.

How much RAM do you have? If you have at least 8GB then its probably your graphics card.

I would suggest that you look at GPU upgrade and memory up to 16GB. You should aim to build a balanced system, unless you plan on upgrading in the future.

For your CPU to get a balanced system you should probably look at at Nvidia GTX 1050 or 1060 or AMD RX560 or better.

I think that you need to draw the line under this current system.

You can make it faster but it will never be good enough to do what you want.

If you cant afford to upgrade everything now, then get a GTX 1060, which is way too good for your current system, so that you can take it to your new system when you upgrade in the future.
