HDDs in RAID 0 improve Steam Preallocating time?

I just now threw a 500GB 7200 RPM HDD into my system to temporarily add some space to my steam library. As expected the preallocating time on this HDD is much longer than on my SSD. Would adding multiple drives into RAID 0 greatly shorten steams preallocating times?

Addendum: I'm aware that I mistakenly placed this thread in the wrong forum. I've already sent a notification to the mods about it. Feel free to add your input.

RAID0 = striping. Writes chunks of data on different disks. If 1 drives fails you WILL loose all your data. You should see some kind of performance increase with RAID0. You will need similar size drives to configure RAID0.

For example, if a 120 GB disk is striped together with a 320 GB disk, the size of the array will be 120 GB × 2 = 240 GB.

You do know, you don't have to download every game you have on Steam. They only gather virtual dust, if you aren't playing them. I'd say 85% of my steam games are not installed on my computer. Just simply because I don't play them any more.
