i just recently installed g12 kraken with x62 rad on my gtx 1080 msi armor oc, im worried about my idle being 39-41c and 50-58c on load. alot of people owned g12 kraken watercooled idle around 25c-28c and 42-48c on load. i reapplied thermal paste, checked the connections. still idling 39-41c.

Howdy. I have a G12 w/ a H105. 53 max, 28 idle. Unless you're planning to go HAM on the overclocking, you should keep perspective that different makes of cards will have varying temperatures, and further, keep in mind that IIRC the throttle only begins at about 90C on 1080 cards. So you've pushed it down just fine - you've literally got like 40 degrees of leeway.

Further, for any of the water coolers, because of how that all works, you're going to see much greater benefits as temperatures climb - they always hover a bit high on idle, but if you took the comparison vs. load, you'd see a pretty solid decrease.

Could you pass on a pic of the installed G12 on your GPU? Are you sure you don't have any protrusions on your G12 where caps are impeding proper/flush contact? What are your ambient air temps and what case are you working with? On another note, how is it setup/orientated in your case?

how much thermal paste do i apply? i feel like 39c idle is not right compare to yours, i understand there are different kinds of cards. but i looked every where and people are getting 25-28c idle.

I used somewhere between a grain of rice and a pea. Make sure that, if you're going to go through the trouble of re-applying paste, make sure you check that your adapters aren't caught on anything. Depending on the card PCB, the adapter bracket that the G12 uses can result in there being a rise off the board that is not flush, and this will negatively affect the connection one has.

I was using Arctic Silver 5 on a EVGA 1080ti SC Black 11GB (stock) inside a Manta NZXT case.

I would focus on your upper limits, not your idles, to be honest. Idle doesn't mean anything.

Edit: To be more accurate, my GFX idle or close to is 34C/93.4F.
