Intel hd for display and gpu for gaming

So recently my adapter hdmi to vga has broke and my monitor only supports vga while my gpu has hdmi display port and a dvi and im only with intel hd graphics i have disconnected gpu from the motherboard and so i though if it would be possible to use intel hd graphics for display monitor and the gpu to render the graphics for games is that possible ?

No. If you want to use the GPU to play games your display cable must be plugged into the GPU.

It doesn't work that way, for the GPU to do anything regarding graphics output, you need to be directly connected to it. Amazon and Walmart have those adapters as low as $6, your best option is just to get another one.

Depending on the GPU you may need an active adapter that will convert analog to digital. Those are typically more expensive than passive adapters.
