Hello:
I've a problem with my Canon IP5300 printer that the matte black CLI-BK8 cartridge don't prints at all.
Whats happened is that the former matte black cartridge printed badly, as it was empty. So I removed it from the print head. Before I put the new one inside it, I removed all the cartridges from the print head, than removed the print head itself and manually cleaned its nozzle using a toilet Paper. After than, I put the print head and all of the cartridges back into the printers than put the new matte black CLI-BK8 into the print head, than closed the printer cover, than printed a nozzle check pattern:

You can see than the BK, which is the CLI-BK8 don't prints at all despite it is full.
This is the new BK cartridge I put in my printer:

What cause this problem?

Try a genuine Canon cartridge first to see if that fixes the problem - - I never use compatibles on my Canon printer.

If that makes no difference, remove the printhead again but this time soak it in warm soapy water overnight, then let it thoroughly dry before putting it back. You can't clean a printhead properly just by wiping it with something.

Genuine IP5300 cartridges are impossible to find here in Israel anymore, as this model of printer is very old and Canon isn't so popular here.
I will try a compatible cartridge of another brand.
With your second solution, I don't have means to seal the cartridges in my printer during the soaking, as I disposed their orange cover during their installation, and this solution lasts long enough to allow the inks to dry. Also, I'm afraid that I would destroy the printhead by this process.

If you can't get supplies for your printer, maybe it's time to get a newer one. That model is about 10 years old. You will spend as much trying different cartridges and fixes as a new inkjet would cost. Many models are pretty cheap, most of the cost is in the replacement ink.
