Hey, I bought and fitted an AIO cooler for my CPU today, however I notice that when I it sometimes makes some strange sounds.

I notice that whenever it gets to around 50 - 55 degrees Celsius it starts making a strange sort of grinding sound, the cooler is brand new from amazon so I'm just wondering if I should return it or just wait and hope it goes away.

Here's a recording I took of the sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoMMQPZ5Roo

The cooler is a Cooler Master MasterLiquid Lite 120 and my CPU is an Intel I5-2500k.

Thanks for any help.

Note: I don't think temperature is making a difference since it seems to make the noise just as often under max on intelburntest as at idle with nothing running

Are you sure that's not coming from the HDD's platter or the fans' motor or any other fan in your system(like the GPU, PSU)? If you're absolutely sure the grinding noise is coming from the AIO's pump/cooling block housing then it's a sign that the impeller is grinding against the internal housing. Before long the pump will fail. My suggestion is take the clip you've recorded and use it as leverage to swap the cooler.

You might also want to look at Corsair's AIO's since they are of a better build(though they also suffered from the same issue during the H100 series).

If you're skeptical about AIO's then you should look into air cooling. Cryorig's H7 comes to mind.

If that sound really is from the pump itself, I would RMA the unit and get a replacement or your money back. I've never heard an AIO pump make a noise like that but since the recording is likely from the inside of a PC while it is running, it might be difficult to isolate it from other sounds.

I opened my computer and listened around, turns out its the fan that came with the water cooler and not the pump, replaced the fan with one from my old PCs CM Hyper 212 and messaged amazon about my problem, and they've said they'll send me a replacement fan. Thanks for the help!
