Hello, I will buy a new CPU soon but I still can not decide which way to go.
-Ryzen 5 2600x with an x470 MB
-I7 8700 (non k) with a cheap MB.
I will use it for gaming, virtualization and casual streaming.
In the case of games like dota 2 and csgo I want to get 144hz stable.
In WoW and StarCraft II I get 144hz at times but it's not that important. And for AAA games 144hz it does not matter.
Currently I have:
I5 6600k
GTX 1060 6gb
16gb ram 2400mhz (I'll buy better later)
Monitor Asus 144hz
650W PSU

Solution
Vengeance lpx?? Should be absolutely fine with ryzen , especially ryzen + & an x470 onboard which has better compatiibility than earlier releases.

Honestly, flip a coin and be happy with your choice. Those games the i7 does perform just slightly better than the 2600x but you are going to have a higher cost only due to the cooler cost on the intel side. As madmatt said, the cooler on the intel side doesn't keep up with the thermals on the i7. The stock cooler on the 2600x does a pretty good job.

I was about to buy Ryzen but I discovered that my ram is not compatible (Cmk8gx4m1a2400c14) x2
I read comments from some people with the same Ram having problems using Ryzen.
I think the only option is the I7 8700, sadly.
Is there a solution for ram incompatibility?
