question about data security and how does it effect performance?

i have a samsung 960evo 250gb and was wondering as it looks like i have class 0 or encrypted drive as an option. i want to enable data security but was wondering what is the performance impact like?

i have a 8700k intel cpu so if it only effects cpu performance then how much? as i dont see that as an issue with my fast cpu.

what components does this security have the most impact on? will it slow down my nvme as i have a single drive no raid just 1x 960evo 250gb

All of our work laptops are encrypted, I don't see any performance difference in using the systems. Keep in mind that this extra security is really only good if someone gets a hold of your laptop and tries to get to the drive files. It won't help you if a virus gets on your system to copy or delete files.
