Hi,
At this moment I am pondering whether to upgrade my CPU or not. I have the AMD Athlon 860K, which is pretty much the absolute best you can get for an FM2 socket motherboard. I know it is barely entry level, and I can't stand that. At the same time, I'm on a budget, and I really don't want to spend too much money. I have been researching some AMD CPUs and I have narrowed down my possible choices:
- Go with AM3 and the FX series (Which wouldn't be much of a significant upgrade)
- Go with the AM4 and Ryzen (Which seems like the better choice when upgrading)
- Just stick with FM2+ and upgrade other things like my GPU and my Motherboard (Both of which need upgrading)
I don't have many demanding games, and I just want to get 30 - 60 FPS on any game I play. I feel like if I get a better GPU, then I can achieve that without having to sacrifice more money on a new CPU and Motherboard. Bottlenecking may be an issue with this route of thinking, but there are options, like the RX 460 for example, which will not be badly bottlenecked by this specific CPU.
P.S,
I'm actually terrified of going back to Intel... It was a bad experience for me, so if you don't mind staying in the AMD range of CPUs that would be great
Help me out?
Thanks.
