Hi everyone,

I try to pick some components for my new build, but i have many question for you. Sorry if i make mistakes.
So, I from France and I search products and prices on : Amazon.fr, Materiel.net, TopAchat.com ...
How to begin, i have already a build but i want to create a new build with a custom water cooling loop. it's my first, and it's a big project for me. I want to chose colors of my config in terms of the brands (Mobo, CGU) 1- It would be better to take same brand for MOBO and CGU ?

Few details :
- Approximate Purchase Date: During the month (sales in France)
- Budget Range: around 2000-3000€
- System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming (CSGO for the most and new game occasionaly), edit some movies, maybe streaming in the future.
- Are you buying a monitor: No, I have already a 1080p 144Hz
- Overclocking: Yes
- SLI or Crossfire: Maybe, I hesitate for a SLI 1080, SLI 1070 Ti or one 1080 TI, 2- SLI is good ?

I want to take water cooling CGU, 3- is it better to take a CGU water cooling block (factory output like Gigabyte AORUS WaterForce or another 1080ti with a EK block for exemple ? 4- which card for each solution is better ?

5- Which site is the best for Custom Water cooling ? EK, Phanteks, Thermalake, another one ?

6- Which Case ? I think about :
- Corsair 570X
- Phantoks P350X
- Lian Li OC 11 dynamic
- Phanteks enthoo Evolv atx

I think take a radiator 360, I see this topic Custom Water Cooling and like this, 7- what do you think ?

8- It exists a lot of MOBO, i don't know what to choose, Gigabyte Z370 G5- G7, Asus ROG Maximus X HERO, ASUS ROG Strix E gaming, AS rock Taichi, MSI Z370 Tomahawk, wait the b450 .... ??

To finish, i think take a i7 8700k, i have already a Samsung EVO 970 500Go.
9- Which sata get ?Barracuda or Hitachi ?
I think for 16 Go of DDR4
10- It's enough ? which one ?

It's vey hard to choose about all solutions ... I hope you will help me, and thank you a lot in advance !!

Solution
Elaborating on my last post:

If you're going with the i7 8700k, you're going to want a Z370 motherboard.

Here's a basic build to start you off.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor (€313.90 @ Amazon France)
Motherboard: Asus - ROG STRIX Z370-F GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (€184.90 @ Cdiscount)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (€180.89 @ Amazon France)
Storage: Seagate - BarraCuda 4TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive (€104.80 @ Amazon France)
Video Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB STRIX GAMING OC Video Card (€899.99 @ Cdiscount)...
1) no idea what cgu is but , so far as i know pc components dont need to be the same
2) triple A games scale with sli, most games dont like csgo.
3) its the easiest method, and a good method
4) that gigabyte will work, i know that the asus poseidon is good and the msi seahawk , I would get the msi
5) all good, I like this one http://www.phanteks.com/Enthoo-Evolv-Shift-X.html otherwise the corsair.
6)^
7) Custom loop with pump, no rads.
8) asus maximus hero, asrock tachi and the best
9) both good leaning to hitachi
9) 2x8 gb ddr4 3000+ mhz
10) all good :D nice post man

1. That doesn't make any difference, you can choose whatever you want.

2. SLI is not very good these days, with the newer cards it doesn't give much of a performance boost.

3. I'd say it's better to go with something custom as the ones from companies are mass produced and not built by hand among other reasons.

4. Any card works for custom loops as long as backplates (etc) are available for the card you choose.

5. EKWB is one of the best options, but there is also other companies like XSPC.

6. Any case works, those are all nice cases. Make sure they can fit what you're trying to put in though.

7. I don't think radiators that big are really necessary. Even 240 radiators can easily cool a CPU and GPU loop.

8. Any motherboard works as long as it is compatible with the processor you're trying to use.

9. Seagate Barracuda's are usually more popular over Hitachi.

10. Sixteen gigabytes of ram is definitely enough.

I didn't include an SSD because you said you already had one.

Hi jelricb, thanks a lot for your help and suggestions.

I hesitate with 3 color :
- blue with 1080ti poseidon
- orange black with gigabyte aorus brand
- red black with Asus ROG

Is it true, we have best OC and performances with the ASUS ROG maximus x Hero instead of ASUS ROG STRIX ?

Do you think it's good to wait the 9xxx CPU and the 2xxx GPU ?

On this link Custom water Cooling, he speaks about 1 big rads and 2 little rads, what do you think about this ?

Thanks a lot for your time.

It doesn't really matter how much it can overclock, at that level the computer should run just about any game at maximum settings. I say pick the colors you like best and I will change the build for you!

You can choose to wait for the next generation, but to the best of our knowledge those will come out sometime this autumn. Again, it all depends on opinion at this point.

The loop I gave you uses one big radiator and one small radiator. That's just about all the case can fit. I dont really think it's necessary, as the loop I gave you uses a 280 rad and a 120 rad.
