Network Drive showing low space

I just connected a 4TB USB HDD to my router and was trying to use it as a Backup drive and a Media Server.

I first formatted the drive after which it was showing 3.6TB free space in my computer.

But when i connected it to my router's USB port and then found it through Network connections and mapped it to my computer,it is showing only 40MB space out of which 38.5mb is free.

Because of this,i tried to connect another HDD to my router but it is having the same problem.

I have tried to connect External drives to my router in the past and there were no problems. This is a new issue.

You may want to read what type of format your router supports. For example, I have a NAS that will NOT read anything NTFS or FAT. BUT, when it formats it to it's own partition (ext2 or 3) it reads the whole disk. Same thing when I plug in a USB drive to my router like you are. It will NOT read NTFS BUT will read FAT.

You may want to provide additional info, such as router make and model, along with USB Drive model to better provide suggestions. Good luck!

When I connected the 4TB HDD for the first time into my router,I was able to transfer files to it but after that it started showing low space.

Also,It can't be the HDD or the router as I have used other HDD's with my router before which worked fine.I have always used NTFS to format all drives and the router accepted other Drives before. It is giving me errors with all drives now, even the drive which worked earlier.

My External HDD is the following:
